⛰️ Tea Retreat

I'm so excited to host you all for a cozy fall weekend at Dacks Yurt Collective, my family's off-grid yurt retreat in the Adirondacks (near North Creek, NY).

Below, you can find a rough itinerary, a packing list, and some other helpful information. Please read carefully, and if you have any questions, message the WhatsApp group chat or contact me directly.

My intention with this tea retreat is to provide a restful, natural experience for all of us 🧡

Please note: this is the first tea retreat I've hosted! Think of this as a pilot run. I welcome all of you to bring your own ideas on how to make our weekend – and future tea retreats – the best possible experience. Also, please keep in mind that the yurt retreat is very much a work-in-progress.

  • Rainjacket and/or umbrella
  • Shoes for a moderate hike (slippers will be provided)
  • Sleeping bag (no need to bring pillows, blankets, or sleeping pads)
  • Book, journal, and/or something to focus on
  • Water bottle
  • Headlamp

Optional:

  • Tea and/or teaware that you'd like to share
  • Games, musical instruments, camera, etc.

ℹ️ Important Info

  • Address: 283 Oven Mountain Road, Johnsburg, NY
  • There is no running water at the yurt, meaning no shower or flush toilet. There's an outhouse (it's clean) about 30 meters from the yurt. For drinking water, we'll be refilling from a nearby spring.
  • We may be sharing the yurt with some mice friends & foes. We rarely see them but sometimes hear them at night. Mice can chew clothing, backpacks, and other items -- please be aware of this risk.
  • Our neighbors operate a shooting range, which means we sometimes hear loud gunshots. It's quite loud, but usually only happens for an hour a day.
  • There is no electricity, but we do have a solar-powered battery which can charge electronic devices and power string lights.
  • Cell service is very limited depending on your carrier! You can always use my phone to make a call or send a text if needed.
  • The yurt has a wood-burning stove which will keep us warm all weekend long! If you'd like to chop wood at any point, that'd be very appreciated.
  • Reminder that we'll be sharing all the costs for the weekend (mostly food). I expect it to cost no more than $100 per person.
