ð bÅcha
bÅcha is a zine that we author and design to share stories, resources, and updates on The Tea Stand. We publish bÅcha twice a year on the summer and winter solstices.
We ship each new issue of bÅcha to Steepers, who can also access digital archives of all past issues.
While inventory lasts, we usually have issues of bÅcha available for browsing and purchase (donation-based) at our events!
What's inside?
- An introduction to our work, our theory, our values
- Fun visualizations showing how much tea we've served and where
- Stories about our interactions with strangers
- Local artists and organizations which inspire us
We named bÅcha after a Japanese green tea which is made from the tea plant's stems and stalks (rather than its leaves).
Historically, Japanese farmers would drink bÅcha after selling all their tea leaves, and as a result its known as "peasant's drink."
We celebrate bÅcha as a symbol of solidarity and to honor the folk history of tea.
