⛩️ Popups

When we serve free tea in public parks, we call them "Popups."
Popups are the original & fundamental format of The Tea Stand. This entire project started when Miles set up a small table in his local park and served free tea to passersby, and these Popups remain our most frequent type of programming.
We host 2-3 Popups every month, all year-round, usually on Sundays. Spefically, we're committed to the following:
- hosting a Popup in Maria Hernandez Park (Bushwick) every second Sunday of the month
- hosting a Popup in Herbert von King Park (BedStuy) once a month
- hosting a Popup in a park decided by our members once per season (more here)
While most of our Popups take place in Brooklyn parks, we've served free tea in all five boroughs and love connecting with all NYC residents & neighborhoods.

We host Popups to create accessible spaces for local connection in our lonely, sick world. We're inspired by the teahouses of Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA), which serve as hubs for casual gatherings and conversation.
At Popups, there is no agenda – just open air & an open mind. We do our best to cultivate a space which is welcoming, non-judgmental, and distraction-free.
Popups are an opportunity to connect with neighbors (human & nonhuman), slow down in our busy city, and deepen our relationships with public spaces.
